Conflicts between the dissident and the government heating up (1977 to 1979)

  • Zhongli incident (11.19.1977)
    After the incident, the suspects are prosecuted after investigation by the intelligence. Letter of the Yangmei Precinct of Taoyuan Police Department of March 17th with report on security incentives.

  • Qiaotou Incident (January 21, 1978)
    Yu Deng-fa was arrested for his involvement in rebellious acts, so an investigation was made on Yu Deng-fa for espionage and rebellion. Hence, Yao Jia-wen and some others publicly expressed their support for Yu Deng-fa, and subsequently held a rally assembly at Qiaotou, Kaohsiung County .
    Dangwai (Non-KMT Party Civilians)
  • During the Taoyuan County Magistrate Election, people protested against the fraud and corruption at the ballot boxes, and thus ended in surrounding the Chungli Branch of Taoyuan County Police Department.
  • On October 6, 1978 , non-KMT members and Huang Xin-jie announced the formation of “Taiwan Non-KMT of the Taiwan Dissidents Election Rally.”
  • Yu Deng-fa, Huang Xin-jie, etc. and 70 others jointly signed a statement that stating that they supported democracy, opposed violence, and advocated the notion that the fate of Taiwan should be decided by the people. (December 25, 1978.)
